This is the first tutorial in the series dedicated to metallic textures. Here we are going to learn how to render smooth golden fabrics such as gold foil lamè spandex, PVC and satin. We will pay particular attention to the choice of colors since it is not exactly yellow 😉
Lamé – a fabric with interwoven threads of gold or silver. Pronounced “lah-MAY”. Nowadays metallic fibers consist of metal, metal coated plastic, plastic coated metal or metal covered yarn. Lamé comes in different types, depending on the composition of the other threads in the fabric. The metallic fibers can be combined with other fibers such as polyester, silk, rayon, nylon, cotton and wool.
